AN EXAMINATION OF DIARRHOEA AND ITS CAUSES AND EFFECTS AMONG CHILDREN
ABSTRACT: This study delved into the aetiology and ramifications of diarrheal episodes among the paediatric population residing in the Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State. The study was conducted in solitude, alongside fellow scholars within the academic institution. The data collection methodology employed in this study entails the utilisation of a questionnaire method, as well as conducting oral interviews with esteemed individuals who have successfully completed their National Certificate of Education (NCE) within the Ovia North East region. The findings have demonstrated that the presence of diarrhoea in children is causally linked to the manifestation of fever. Furthermore, it has been established that substandard sanitary conditions contribute to the prevalence of diarrhoea in children. Additionally, the consumption of inadequately prepared food has been identified as a significant factor in the onset of diarrhoea in children. Moreover, the absence of proper health education has been identified as a contributing factor to the dissem It is highly advisable that the government promptly initiates decisive actions to implement a comprehensive array of measures aimed at averting the proliferation of diarrhoea infections in Benin City, as well as across the entirety of Nigeria. It is imperative that our water supply undergoes meticulous treatment, employing chlorine as a means to ensure its suitability for both consumption and personal hygiene purposes.
